Learn MoreMaureen Whittaker - BIO My name is Maureen Whittaker and I have lived in Australia since the late 70's. I wasn't aware of Nimbin's reputation a creative centre but, luckily, the penny dropped finally and I tapped into the inspiration of this wonderful region. By 2010 I got interested in art in all its forms and explored many different mediums in workshops in the area and interstate. My personal style of colourful, textured, expressive and abstraction using acrylics is where I am most comfortable and confident. If the viewer can see something in my work that I hadn't intended, I'm happier still and this is often the case. Painting gives me joy and I hope my works bring some colour into the world.

Heather Bedell - BIO When I left school, at the age of 16, my Mother would not allow me to attend Art College. In her mind art students were 'hippies' and she was not going to have one of those in her family; so she put me into a secretarial college where I dropped out and became a hippy anyway. Many jobs and children later I arrived in Nimbin and achieved my life long dream. With the encouragement of the Nimbin Artists Gallery, and the influence of the many talented people in the Nimbin area I have taken up all sorts of artistic mediums. I particularly like the arts of the Nouveau period, so my work reflects the works of Klimpt, Von Stuck, Degas, Horta, Mactintosh and Sydney Long to name a few.

Donna Sharam Donna grew up in Coonabarabran, a small rural town in NSW, Australia, where her fascination with colour began at a young age. By the time she was 10 years old, she was already designing and sewing her own clothes. She loved wearing long striped socks over her knees, paired with mismatched lime & red patent shoes, yes one colour on each foot - along with her vibrant patchwork creations. Her colourful attire often - earned her comparisons to a birthday cake by her amused mother.

JOHN STORY - BIO Born in Ryde NSW Sept 16 1953. Studied Drawing & Painting at Hornsby TAFE. From 2008 until 2016 I studies as a part time Arts student, majoring in philosophy, at Sydney University, during which tie I won the Sir Walter Reid prize for academic excellence in two successive years. My influences over time have been Cezanne, Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse and Soutine. And later on as I moved closer to the understanding of abstraction in and since the landscape, Picasso, Braque, early Mondrian, Pollock and de Kooning also had their influences. I aim to show the fractal nature of the landscape embodied in the repetitions of its pattern and form. But, most important oof all, is my constant desire to render the living nature of form and light and evoke that mysterious moment when an image as gestalt first appears. I moved to Stony Chute December 2019 and since 2021 have continuously shown works in the Nimbin Artist Gallery and in the two yearly Nimbin Art Fairs.

Linda Frylink Anderson - Bio The same 'Scribbling Barefoot' came about when I had my first solo exhibition not long after I returned from sailing around the world. I draw and paint from life capturing the moment as I see it. Travelling provided rich inspiration for my art making. I use a variety of mediums to pint and draw the human form, worldscapes, animals and birds. The real world rather than imaginary. I have published two books which combine my sailing adventures and artwork. Sailing in my Sarong, Around the World - a 30 year dream. Salvage in my Sarong, The Mediterranean Dream in a rescued boat. Recently I began creating whimsical pique Assiette mosaics using recycled materials such as china, old jewellery, glass, mirrors and interesting collectibles. Facilitating Life Drawings groups and Pique Assiette workshops give me much joy observing and interacting with the artists. I endeavour to create an environment that is relaxed and conducive for anyone to have a go regardless of experience. BACKGROUND: Art is my passion. I studied Visual Communications at the Canberra School of Art many years ago. This included painting, drawing and developing / printing my own photography. Travel beckoned with the love of my life so I did not finish my Art degree. However, after having children, I returned to university to study Education specialising in Early Childhood. I enjoyed the autonomy of being a Kindergarten Director for 2 decades encouraging children to be creative thinkers. This lead to teaching Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast until I moved to northern NSW in 2015. Fulfilling my lifelong dream, I am now a full-time artist enjoying the interaction of local artists and sharing my artwork in a local galleries in northern NSW. I was honored to present at International Writers Festivals in Byron Bay and Ubud, Bali, International Boat Shows and at the inaugural Women Who Sail Australia Gathering. Art Exhibitions include galleries in South East Queensland, Norther NSW, Mauritius, US Virgin Islands and New York.
